Walter . F. Hupala

Walter . F. Hupala, 92, a long time resident of Woonsocket, died on Tuesday in Providence. Mr. Hupala was the son of the late Wasyl & Rose (Chomka) Hupala.  Mr. Hupala worked many years at the General Electric Co. as an engineering technician on various development programs. He was honored by the company as an inventor and was recognized for his cost improvement efforts.

He was a graduate of the Milwaukee  School of Engineering and served as an alumni counselor for the school for several years. He received certification in electronics engineering technology from the National Institute for the Certification in Engineering Technologies.

He was a professed member in the Lay Fraternity of St. Dominic at Our Lady of Devine Providence & St. Thomas Aquinas Chapters at Providence College. He also belonged to Catholics United for the Faith, Catholics for Life, and Catholic League for Religious Civil Rights.

As a Christian, he always felt it was his duty to explain and defend the truths of the Faith with those he came in contact. He frequently contributed articles relating to the teachings of the Church in magazines and newspapers. He also enjoyed composing song lyrics of a spiritual nature.

He is survived by his fiancé & faithful friend Diane Tietjen of Bellingham, MA. and a niece Rose King, M.D. of Wellesley, MA. , also three great nieces living in Wellesley  MA., He was the brother of the late John & Stanley Hupala,  Katherine Fuller & Emily Chambers.

His Funeral will be Tuesday, (Oct. 10th) at 10:00 A.M. from the Kubaska Funeral Home, 33 Harris Ave. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Harris Ave. Woonsocket, Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery. Relatives & Friends are invited. Visitation hours are Monday from 4:00 to 6:00 P.m. In  lieu of flowers donations can be made to : Help The Helpless, P.O. Box 270308, Vadnais Heights, MN., 55127.
