Sophie H.(Stefanik)Merlet, 97, of Winter St.. Bellingham, passed away peacefully on Tuesday at the Woonsocket Health & Rehabilitation Ctr. with her family at her side. She was the loving wife of the late Roland E. Merlet. Born January 11, 1914 in Woonsocket , she was the daughter of the late John & Mary (Skalak) Stefanik. She enjoyed spending her summers at Hampton Beach, watching the Game Show Network, and being with her family especially her Grandchildren & Great Great Grandchildren. She is survived by a son Roland E. Merlet Jr. of Woonsocket & a Daughter Jeanne J. Comire of Bellingham, MA. a brother Ernest T. (Pinky) Stefanik of Woonsocket & a sister Monica Lambert of No. Smithfield. She was the sister of the late Edward, Joseph, Stanley, Walter & Louise Stefanik, Rose & Stacia Jacobs, Amelia Merlet,
Julia Feid & Josephine O'Hara. She was also the aunt of the late Bobby Stefanik.
She was the loving Grandmother to 5 Grandchildren Joyce Harmon, Debra Comire, Sandra Salley, Mark & Lisa Merlet & loving Great Grandmother to Kayla & Patrick Salley, Danielle & Matthew Harmon. She also leaves several nieces & nephews.

Her Funeral will be Saturday (May 14th) at 9:00 A.M. from the Kubaska Funeral Home 33 Harris Ave. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A M. in St. Joseph's Church, Mendon Rd. Woonsocket , Burial will be in St. John The Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham. Relatives & Friends are invited. A Visitation Hour will be Saturday morning 1 hour before the Funeral Mass from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Association of RI, 298 W. Exchange St. Providence, RI 02903. The Merlet family would like to express thier appreciation and thank the staff and the friends that Sophie made at the Woonsocket Health Center for thier kindness and taking care of her.
