Ruby Karas Obituary

Ruby N. (Morgan} Karas of Cumberland, R.I. died at home at the age of 95 on July 10, 2020.  Originally from Tallahassee, FL, she was born Ruby Anelia Morgan but was always known as Nellie.  She was the youngest of 12 children and last surviving child of John H and Ada A (Sasser) Morgan. 

 

Nellie was married to the late Steve Karas for 50 years until his death in 1994.  They resided in Cumberland since 1949 where they raised their three children, Donald S Karas of Newport News, VA., Phyllis M Read of North Providence, RI. and Stephanie A (Taffy) Karas of Manville, RI.  She was grandmother of 6 and great grandmother of 5.  She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

 

Nellie worked as an office administrator in Plante’s Auto Body in Woonsocket, RI for 27 years before retiring.  She was a congregant of St Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox church in Woonsocket, RI, as well as a member and past president of the Ladies Sodality.

 

Funeral and Burial will be private.
