Raymond R. Dubois, 94 of Woonsocket, RI, passed away on Friday, January 5th, after a brief battle with illness, Ray was born on January 18, 1929 to Ernest and Jeanette Dubois and was raised in Woonsocket. He served in the United States Army during peacetime and was honorably discharged in 1948. Ray met the love of his life, Helen Recorvits, and they were married in June of 1953. In 1958, Ray bought and finished building his life long home on Flora Ave., where he and Helen raised their three children emphasizing the importance of education. Ray worked as a programmer analyst for several companies retiring from CVS in 1994. Ray was a devote Catholic and was a communicant of St. Agatha’s Parish.
Ray had a quizzical mind and liked exploring how things worked. He has a quick wit and always enjoyed engaging conversation. Hobbies over his lifetime included photography, boating and playing the guitar. He also, loved to watch Audie Murphy movies. Ray was full of energy and was always on the go. He loved to jump into his car and drive around town and the state, or just go on a mystery trip ending up all over New England. Ray traveled with Helen on several trips to Europe and Hawaii and with the family on trips to the Cape, Aruba and Disney. They enjoyed visiting casinos as well. Being with his family was very important to him and hosting holiday gatherings especially so where Ray would make his renowned strawberry soup. Ray was very supportive of his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow up to succeed in life.
Ray was predeceased by his loving wife of 67 years, Helen (Recorvits) Dubois, daughter, Dr. Diane Dubois-Hall and brother Normand Dubois. He is survived by his son Dr. David Dubois and his wife Dr. Carol Dubois, daughter Janice Dubois and her husband Dr. Brad Sherman, son in law Dr. Eric Hall, grandchildren Janis Roy, Dr. Matthew Hall, Patrolman John Dubois, brother in law Michael Recorvits and sister in law Anne Lawrence. Ray will always be remembered and missed by his family.
His Funeral will be on Friday, (JAN. 12th) at 9:00 AM from the Kubaska Funeral Home, 33 Harris Ave. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Agatha’s Church, 34 Joffre Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will be in St. Jean the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, MA. Visitation hours are Thursday,(JAN. 11th), from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
