Peter Bilyj of Church St. passed away peacefully on Monday at the Trinity
Health & Rehabilitation Center in Woonsocket with his family at his side. He was the loving
Husband to Helena (Lepecha) Bilyj who passed away on July 8th. Born July 25th 1924 in the Ukraine son of the late Ivan & Maria Bilyj. He and his late wife arrived in this country in 1949 settling in Woonsocket.
Mr. Bilyj was employed as a custodian for the Woonsocket School Dept. for many years retiring in 1991. He previously was employed at the Barney Worsted Co. which is now the Woonsocket Museum of Work & Culture. and then later was a foreman at A.C.S. Industries. An avid and well known Gardner in the Church St. neighborhood he was proud to display his Fruit orchid trees & vegetable plants. He was a communicant and former member of The parish choir at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church of Woonsocket. He is survived by 2 sons: Jaroslaw "Jerry" & his wife Lynette Bilyj of No. Providence, Roman & his wife Agnieszka Bilyj of Woonsocket, a daughter Helen & her husband Robert Bradshaw of Warwick. He was the loving Grandfather to 5 Grandchildren, Pasha DeFreitas & her husband Michael, Justin Bilyj & his fiancé© Nicole, Tarra Bilyj, Carlton & Laura Bradshaw. Also 3 Great Grandchildren, Michael, Madison, & Jayden. His Funeral will be Thursday at 9:00 A.M. from the Kubaska Funeral Home, 33 Harris Ave. with a Mass Of Devine Liturgy at 11:00 A.M. in St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 394 Blackstone St. Woonsocket, Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives & Friends are invited. Visitation hours will be Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:30A.M. before the Funeral Mass.
