In 1955 she married the love of her life, Jimmy Nawrocki, and moved to New York City where he was a barber. In 1958 they had a son, James. In the 1960s, Maye was employed in the Claims Department at Metropolitan Life Insurance's NYC Headquarters. In 1971, the family moved back to Woonsocket and resided in Fairmount. During the 1970s, Maye worked at Tech Industries and Riverside Industries, both in Woonsocket. Widowed in 1982, Maye soon thereafter moved to Gatewood Apartments in No. Smithfield. After she retired in 1985, she stayed active as a volunteer running the gift shop at Hospice St. Antoine in No. Smithfield. In 2006 she moved to Freeport, ME, to live close to her son.
She was a wonderful wife, devoted mother, and an exceptional grand and great-grandmother. In addition to God and family, Maye enjoyed cooking, crocheting, playing Scrabble, and cheering on her beloved Boston Red Sox.
Maye is survived by her son James and his wife Ruth of Bath, ME; two grandchildren, Kristin Nawrocki of Staten Island, NY, and Catie Fagan of Port St. Lucie, FL, and great-grandson Wyatt Fagan also of Port St. Lucie, FL. She is also survived by two sisters, Sister Mary Symphronia of Reading, PA, and Jane Jerominek of No. Smithfield.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made either financially or through blood donations to the American Red Cross. Her Funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. from the Kubaska Funeral Home,35 Harris Ave. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Harris Ave. Woonsocket, Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives & Friends are invited. A Visitation hour will be Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. before the Funeral Mass.Kubaskafuneralhome.com
