Gerard Gilbert Brule Sr, 74, of Providence and formerly of Woonsocket, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 15, 2020, surrounded by his loving family at home. He was the beloved husband of Florence (Wozny) Brule. Born in Woonsocket, RI, the son of the late Gilbert and Antoinette (Girard) Brule, he lived primarily in Woonsocket for the majority of his life until moving to Providence in his later years. Mr. Brule served proudly in the United States Navy on the U.S.S Wasp . He graduated from Bryant College with a law enforcement degree and served the city of Woonsocket as a Police Officer on the Woonsocket Police Force until his retirement. He proudly maintained his membership in the fraternal order of police, lodge 51. Known as an expert in interior and exterior painting, many Woonsocket and surrounding area homes and businesses were improved by his detailed oriented workmanship. He remained a passionate lover of country, rhythm and blues, and blue grass music. He was a self taught acoustic guitarist, lover of camping, and held a special place in his heart for his furry companion, Feyore Feyore. He took great enjoyment in being a “fix it man” and was an enthusiastic patriots and red sox fan. Besides his wife of 53 years, he is survived by his children with deep sorrow; Stephanie Desmarais of Nashua, NH; Sally Kwasny and her husband David of Blackstone, MA; Gerard G. Brule Jr of San Francisco, CA, grandchildren Tiffany Perrault and her husband Nathan; Holly Black and her husband Michael; David Kwasny Jr and four great grandchildren; Owen, Zachary, Stella, and Brooke. He is the brother of Sylvia Farrell; Dora Shaver and the late David Brule. Relatives & Friends are invited to a visitation hour on Saturday morning (October 24th) from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. followed by a prayer service in the Funeral Home. Burial at the R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, RI will be Private. Please be advised, facial masks, social distancing and occupancy restrictions will be observed.
