Edward Swierk

Edward Swierk, 92, of Cumberland passed away peacefully on Thursday at the St. Antoine Residence. He was the loving husband for 47 years to the late Joan (Murphy) Swierk. Born Dec. 13, 1922 in Woonsocket he was the son of the late John & Sophia (Janocha) Swierk. Edward was employed as a foreman at area textile co's. for many years before retiring. He proudly served his country during WW11 in the U.S. Marines as a demolition specialist, participating in the Guadalcanal-Tulagi landings, the Capture and Defense of Guadalcanal, and in action on Cape Gloucester and Peleliu. He is survived by a son Edward John Swierk of Hilton Head, SC and a daughter, Nancy Swierk of Owings Mills, MD. A sister, Louise Swierk of Woonsocket, and a niece, Robin Dunne of No. Smithfield. He was the brother of the late Matthew, Erin & Amelia Swierk. Relatives & Friends are invited to visitation hours on Tuesday, Dec. 1st, from 4:00 to 7:30 P.M. followed by a Funeral Service at 7:30 P.M. at the Kubaska Funeral Home, 33 Harris Ave. Woonsocket.
