Arlene (Cullen) Claflin, passed away over to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 25, 2023. Arlene resided in Cottonwood, AZ.., at the Cottonwood Village Senior Living Assisted Care nearby to her daughter, Nancy and her son in law Tony Maxemchuk. She was a lifelong resident of Woonsocket, RI., until 2015 before she moved to AZ.
Arlene was a Woonsocket High School graduate, class of 1945. She was employed at the Taft Pierce Mfg. Co., accounting dept., and retired from Amperex Electronics in 1986 after 19 years of employment as a supervisor in the transistor dept. supplying components for the NASA space program.
Born Dec. 27, 1927, she is pre-deceased by her husband Charles of 62 years. Her parents Ida (Desotell) & Thomas Cullen, sisters Marjorie Baxter and Ethel Fullam Rohan, brothers PFC Edwin F. Cullen, USMC who was killed in action during WWII, and Robert L. Cullen who passed away in 1942. Her grandson John Andrew Monday, who passed away in 2021 and her longtime friend companion Robert Ducharme who passed away in 2015.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy and her son in law Tony Maxemchuk, granddaughter Kristin Monday and her spouse Daniel Perkins of Sedona, AZ., step granddaughter Sara Maxemchuk and spouse Jorge Bettencourt, step great grandsons Angelo and Joshua and step great granddaughter Priscilla all of Olive Branch, Mississippi, as well as many nieces and nephews ,especially niece, Arlene Dwyer, Missie Begnoche and her spouse Jay, and nephew Robert Baxter and his spouse Gloria and their families.
She and her husband enjoyed trips on their Harley Davidson motorcycle, belonging to the Retread Motorcycle Club, traveling much of the east coast and parts of Canada, they spent many summers sailing the coastline of RI, and were avid square dancers. Arlene traveled with relatives throughout FL, the western states, Canada and Ireland. She enjoyed many woman clubs in Woonsocket, was a choir member in AZ., singing at area nursing homes and helping people in general. She was a vibrant and special woman and will be deeply missed and loved by everyone.
Relatives and Friends are invited to a Memorial service on Tuesday, (October 31, 2023) at 10:30 A.M. at the Kubaska Funeral Home, 33 Harris Ave. Woonsocket , Burial will be in St. Charles cemetery, Blackstone, MA.
