Alfred Staples Obituary

Mr. Alfred M. Staples, 73 of Blackstone MA, passed away at Cedarwood Gardens, Franklin MA on April 25,2020.

     Alfred was the son of the late Alma Cote and George Staples, born January 12,1947 in Rhode Island. He married the late Pearl Kiczak in 1962. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary before her passing. 

     He owned and operated Al Staples & Sons Concrete Foundations until his retirement. Alfred was a hard worker and a family man. He will forever be remembered as “Big Al” with a huge heart. He never hesitated to help anyone. He would literally take the shirt off of his back if someone needed it. Al enjoyed spending time with his family and best friend, Jerry Provencial. He was an avid NASCAR and sports fan with love for his New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. Besides his family, his other passions included bass fishing and classic cars.

     He is survived by his four children Pearl Greco and her husband Marty of Connecticut; Alfred Staples Jr. and his wife Gail of Blackstone; Pamela Lahousse of Woonsocket; and Scott Staples of Blackstone; six grandchildren Amanda Madge, Brittany and Kayla Staples, Caitlyn Kurinsky and Marissa Lahousse, and Aaron Greco; as well as two great grandchildren Elyse and Sylvia Madge, and several nieces and nephews. Three brothers George W. Staples of Whitefield, NH; Joseph Staples of Woonsocket, RI; and Thomas Staples of Blackstone, MA. One sister Alma Hocott of Woonsocket, RI. He was also the brother of the late Frank Staples, Robert Staples, Joan Whipple, and Beatrice Otte. 

     Relatives and friends are kindly invited to celebrate the life of Alfred on August 21st at 10am at St. Theresa’s Church, 630 Rathburn Street, Blackstone, MA. A burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone, MA.  The family will greet guests starting at 9:30 am at the entrance of the church. Facial masks and social distancing will be required.
