Leo Cousineau Obituary

Leo J. Cousineau, 89, of Woonsocket, RI passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 26, 2018. He was the beloved husband of the late Doris L. (Guertin) Cousineau.

Leo was born in Woonsocket to the late Fortunat and Marie (Godin) Cousineau and grew up in the Hamlet Crossing area.

He was the loving father of Paul J. Cousineau and his wife, Lisa, of North Smithfield; three daughters, Sheila M. Godin and her husband, Ron, of Providence; Debbie L. Eaton and her husband, Arthur, of Woonsocket; and Judy A. Burr and her late husband, Tom, of Providence; and also leaves 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.  He was the brother of Jean Pascucci of Holliston, MA. and the late Marcel Cousineau, Gerald “Chicky” Cousineau, Robert (Peewee) Cousineau, Jacqueline Ciucci, and Denise Rousseau.

Leo served in the U.S. Navy from 1947 to 1953 and participated in the Korean War aboard the USS Miller (DD-535).  He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan who never missed a game and nearly fainted when the Red Sox finally won a World Series in 2004.  Leo and Doris retired to Homestead, Florida and survived Hurricane Andrew in 1992, though they lost virtually everything.  He was a sliver hander at Owens-Corning Fiber Glass for 11 years, along with his wife Doris, and also worked at General Motors in Framingham and CVS (Mark Stevens).
