Gertrude Marchand Obituary

Gertrude L. Marchand, 97, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2018, at the Ballou Home in Woonsocket,RI. Born Dec.18,1920 in Woonsocket, she was the wife of the late Charles J. Marchand. Mrs. Marchand was the daughter of the late Wilbrod and Maria (Brodeur) Rivet. She was the sister of the late Robert Rivet, Helen Martel, Constance Aubin and Juliette Thibeault. She is survived by three sons, Robert and his wife Roberta of Narragansett, Richard and his wife Robin of Drexel Hill, PA and Charles and his wife Sheila of Warwick; and her cherished granddaughters Nicole Miale, Aimee Moran, Mariel, Allison and Danielle and great granddaughters Alyssa, Hailee and Lilly.

Mrs. Marchand was the General Manager of Salon Fabian in North Smithfield for 20 years. She was also a successful small business woman and was a property manager until her retirement in 2000.

She was a volunteer at St. Theresa’s Church in Blackstone MA and was a past member of the CFO at Holy Family Church in Woonsocket. She was also involved in many senior pitch, cribbage, poker and bowling leagues. The family truly appreciates the wonderful care their mother received at the Ballou Home over the last five years.

Family and friends are invited to her Memorial  Funeral Mass which will be held at St. Theresa’s Church, 630 Rathbun St., Blackstone, Ma. on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 11 am. Burial will be private.
