Henry J Swiech

Henry John Swiech, 96, of Blackstone, MA entered into eternal life peacefully with his loving wife at his side on Thursday, April 20, 2017.  Born in Woonsocket, Henry was the son of John and Nellie (Krawczyk) Swiech.  He was the cherished husband of Claudette (Piette-Tetreault) Swiech for whom he honored and loved every day for the last 27 years. 

Henry served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was promoted to first class seaman in 16 months and served on the U.S.S Albemarle and the U.S.S. Wisconsin.  He was a member of  initial 31st Tokyo Bay Occupation Force  in Japan in 1945, which symbolized the complete capture and surrender of the Japanese Navy. Upon being honorably discharged from the Navy, Henry returned home to Woonsocket and became a Supervisor at Quincy Dye for 35 years.

Henry’s lived a life centered in the Catholic faith.  He prayed daily and this was exemplified by living a simple life where he quietly and generously gave of himself.  He volunteered for Meal-on-Wheels for more than 25 years and touched many with his gentle and kind ways. 

Henry leaves behind his youngest  brother, John.  He was predeceased by his brothers, Victor and Steve, his three sisters, Sophie (Renaud), Connie (Rajotte) and Louise (Kwiatkowski).  He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.  He will be sorely missed by the family he became part of later in life.

His Funeral will be Thursday, (April 27th) at 9:00 A.M. from the Kubaska Funeral Home, 33 Harris Ave., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church,  Harris Ave. Woonsocket, Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland, RI, Relatives & Friends are invited. Visitation hours are Wednesday, (April 26th) from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
